Organised by Chief Sergeant Major Jean François-Villettaz with the support of SOF Sion (Société des Sous-Officiers de Sion). One of Switzerland’s most active military reserve and military-skills associations, SOF Sion places a strong emphasis on infantry, reconnaissance, mountain operations and military competitions.

The 10 km race demands a best-effort run in boots and combat dress while carrying a 10 kg pack. The final 2 km includes a series of demanding alpine obstacles before competitors tackle one last punishing climb to the spectacular ruins of Château de Tourbillon overlooking the city.
